Coleman Younger Ward, Doctor of Agronomy, 82, of Nashville, TN passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011. The family will receive visitors from 5-8pm Monday, February 21 at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota. Funeral services are set for 10am, Tuesday, also at the chapel with the Rev. Noel Vargas officiating. Interment will follow in Wheat Cemetery in Millican.
Coleman was born in Millican on September 20, 1928, the son of George and Lillie (Chenault) Ward. He was the beloved husband of Alice (Miller) Ward. He graduated from Navasota High School, Texas Tech University and Virginia Tech University. He was a beloved college professor & mentor and was active in many professional organizations. He was also an active Deacon in the Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Monte Wayne and Ray Stanley Ward.
Survivors include his wife, Alice of Nashville, TN; daughter, Elizabeth Jan Wilcox of Indianapolis, IN; sons & daughters-in-law, Coleman Bruce Ward, and Douglas & Tracy Ward, all of Nashville, TN; sister, Mary Ann Isbell of Millican; brothers & sisters-in-law, Guy & Jane Ward of Fairfield, Maxie & Shirley Ward of Plantersville, and Lois Ward of Millican; and 6 grandchildren, Coleman, Cameron, and Carson Ward and Kyle, Katherine, and Kristen Wilcox.
Serving as pallbearers are Coleman A. Ward of Charleston, SC, Cameron and Carson Ward of Nashville, TN, Kyle Wilcox of Indianapolis, IN, Don Ward of Weatherford, and David Ward of Houston. Honorary pallbearers are Katherine & Kristen Wilcox of Indianapolis, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bellevue Baptist Church Library, 7400 Hwy 70 South, Nashville, TN 37221.
