Mr. William Dean Atkinson

February 16, 1936 — November 11, 2017

Mr. William “Bill” Dean Atkinson, 81 of Navasota, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 11, 2017. He went peacefully in his sleep at his residence. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at New Hope Church, Hwy 105 E, Navasota, TX. Pastor Max Brandt will officiate.
Bill was born on February 16, 1936, in Wayfield, KS, to Francis & Mary Atkinson. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a helicopter mechanic. After leaving the service, he went to work at Henkel and McCoy Electrical Co. While with this company he traveled frequently and never had a permanent place of residence. After retiring from Henkel and McCoy in the early 1990’s he came to Navasota to join his lifelong friends Ernie Palmer and his wife Karen Robins. He was known as “Uncle Bill” to all kids and grandkids.
Bill was a very kind and sweet man, always smiling. He was quite the historian and always had some very interesting stories to tell. He lived out his life to the fullest and will be missed dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate .
