Wilbert Thane

Wilbert H. Thane, 81, of Washington passed away Saturday, November 3, 2007 in Washington.
Funeral services are set for Tuesday, November 6 at 10:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Donald Kasper officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery in Whitehall. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Nobles Funeral Chapel with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Thane was born on December 3, 1925 in Grimes county, son of Minnie (Hemann) and Fritz Thane. He married Alice Rodenbeck on April 3, 1948. Preferring the outdoors, Mr. Thane enjoyed hunting, gardening, cattle, chickens, and was somewhat of a gunsmith. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of Navasota VFW Post #4006.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Selma Busse.
Mr. Thane is survived by his wife, Alice Thane of Washington; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Danny Kurten of Navasota; sisters and brother-in-law, Nelda Shive of Whitehall and Rosa and Johnny Joswiak of Navasota; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin and Myrtle Thane of Navasota, Fred and Vermel Thane of Navasota, Marius and Jennie Thane of Navasota, and Alvin and Imguard Thane of Centerville.
Serving as pallbearers are Gary Frith of Washington, Preston Boenker of Washington, David Rodenbeck of Brenham, Bill Shive of Navasota, Ray Busse of Navasota, and Ricky Thane of Navasota.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Navasota VFW Post #4006.
