Wayland Eugene Cummins, 85 of Navasota, passed away Thursday, January 7th at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in College Station. Visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday, January 14th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 15th at New Hope Church in Navasota with Dr. Max Brand officiating. Interment will follow in Stoneham Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Wayland was born July 19, 1935 in Navasota, Texas to George and Sally (Mixon) Cummins. He married Barbara Jean Flowers on September 15, 1956 and together they raised five daughters. Wayland worked in the oil and gas industry as a pipe inspectorin Houston until his retirement. He moved back "home" to Grimes County and had small herd of cattle. He enjoyed watching old western movies, college football, and vegetable gardening. He treasured his family and spending time with them and was a very proud, hands on PePa.
He is survived by his wife 64 years, Barbara Jean Cummins; daughters and sons-in-law Steph and Charles Chitwood, Kim and David Schulte, Karen and Billy Holmes, Laura "Lynn" Simmons and Sundance Austin; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 18 great, great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, 12 brothers, three sisters and his daughters, Brenda, Leanne and Deanne.
