Mrs. Wanda L. Sword

Wanda Lee Sword, 76 of Iola, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 9th. The family plans to celebrate her life with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Wanda was born in Houston, Texas on October 18, 1943 to Thomas and Alberta (Bowers) Wilkinson. One evening in Alberquerque, New Mexico while attending a dance, she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Earl Sword, Sr. The couple dated and married in Los Lunas, New Mexico on January 10, 1964. Together they raised three children. Wanda held many positions in her life, but if you were to ask her what her favorite of all, she wouldn’t have hesitated to say that of a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and Earl enjoyed attending dances and Masonic functions, travelling to Las Vegas, road trips with no particular destination and just being together. She had never met a stranger and often welcomed folks into the family. She was happiest when surround by family and friends, love and laughter.

Wanda is survived by her children, daughters and sons-in-law Samantha and Michael Kimich and Sharon and Monte Simmonds; son Earl Sword, Jr.; grandchildren Madichen Dearing, Micah Dearing, Kylee Kimich, Kaylee Kimich, Mason Sword, Cassandra Young, Emily Dickey, Alex Simmonds and Zachary Simmonds; sister Reba Wil kinson; nephew Raymond Sword and numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and sister, Annette.
