Virginia "Marie" Smith, 92, of Anderson and formerly of Hempstead passed away Monday, January 28, 2008 at Grimes St. Joseph Health Center. Graveside services are set for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30 at Hempstead Cemetery with the Rev. J.K. "Tim" Bruegger of First United Methodist Church of Navasota officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Marie was born on May 17, 1915 in Easterly, TX, daughter of Eunice Lucetta (Hollar) and Joseph Mitchell Boes. She was very talented at crocheting and cooking, especially pineapple coconut pies. She loved playing bingo, but even that couldn't compare to the love she held for her boys.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Smith; sons, Wilton Ennis Smith & Ronnie Ray Smith; sister, Oma Louella Johnson; and brother, Robert Boes.
Marie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis C. & Emma Smith of Navasota and Vodie L. & Janey Smith of Anderson; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
