Virgil Ray Abke, 71, of Richmond passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, in Sugarland. Visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Nobles Funeral Chapel from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with funeral services immediately following at 10:00 AM with Harvey Abke officiating. Interment will follow in Apolonia Cemetery in Anderson, Texas. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
He was born on May 1, 1953, in Navasota, Texas to both Earl Abke and Irene Finke. Virgil attended Katy ISD. He married Jackie Hurst Abke and to this union three children were born: Jeremie, Josh, and Jason. After her passing, he met and later married Michelle Denise Gladd and became a bonus father to both Shaun Orsak and Tara Jones.
Virgil worked as a machinist for FJW Machine for several years. He enjoyed hunting, watching sports and old western movies, fishing, and spending quality time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Irene Abke; his brothers, Darrell Abke, Earl Wayne Abke, and Charles Abke; and the mother of his children, Jackie Abke.
Left to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Michelle Abke; his sons, Jeremie “Bubba” Abke, Josh Abke and his wife, Michelle, and Jason Abke and his fiance', Caroline; his bonus son, Shaun Orsak; his bonus daughter, Tara Jones and her husband, Ben; his grandchildren, Makenna Abke, Lexie Abke, Carissa Abke, Macey Abke, Christopher Jones, and Joseph Jones; his great-grandchild, Remington Nichols; his siblings, Michael Abke, Sr., Harvey Abke and his wife, Sue, Carolyn Hilgen, Randy Abke, Phillip Abke and his wife, Kimberley and Patricia Mertz and her husband, Darwin; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Shane Bell, Kyle Bell, Gary Abke, Larry Abke, Cameron Cortez, Tyler Abke, Ben Jones, Ryder Nichols, Grant Jones and Bailey Garner.
