Mrs. Viola Kowis, 87, of Jewett passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Visitation will be held Friday, July 27, from 5-7 p.m. at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota, and a rosary will follow at 7 p.m. A funeral mass is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Navasota with Rev. Rodolfo "JoJo" L. Cal-Ortiz officiating. Rite of committal will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Viola was born on February 13, 1925, in Stoneham, TX, the daughter of Henry & Alice (Yorek) Wisnoski. Viola was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Leonard Kowis.
She is survived by her loving children, Martin and Diana Kowis of Cypress, Jimmy and Carol Kowis of Brenham, Danny & Linda Kowis of Montgomery; sisters, Mary Orlando of Houston, Ann Wetuski of Houston; special caretaker and granddaughter, Elisha Miller of Centerville and 8 additional grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Monty Kowis of Houston, Richard Petree of Houston, David Slaughter of Dallas, Willie Kowis of Montgomery, Mike Kowis of Montgomery, Michael James Kowis of Montgomery and honorary pallbearer Danny Miranda of Houston.
