Van Hulon Rigby, 93, of Shiro passed away Wednesday, March 30 at the St. Joseph Regional Health Center. The family will receive visitors from 5-7pm Friday at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota. Funeral services are set for 2pm Saturday also at the chapel with the Rev. Tommy True and Rev. Jay Kott officiating. Interment will follow in Independence Cemetery in Shiro.
Hulon was born in Grimes County on August 8, 1917, the son of Eli Van and Sarah (Wingard) Rigby. He was best known as the "TV Man" of Shiro for his TV repair work. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tince and Tootsie Rigby; sisters, Margie, Polly and Ona; wife of 50 years, Eva (Venable) Rigby; and second wife of 10 years, Pearl (Hunt) Rigby.
Survivors include his son, Van Rigby, Jr. and wife Pat of Shiro; daughter, Yvonne Rampmeier of Shiro; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Hulon was a longtime Deacon at Shiro Baptist Church, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the church.
