Mrs. Thelma Jo Nobles

January 10, 1936 — July 20, 2016

Thelma Jo Nobles, 80, of Navasota passed away Wednesday, July 20th at CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00pm, Friday, July 22nd at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of her life will be on Saturday, July 23rd at 10:00am, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Navasota. Rev. Henry Sanders will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Nobles was born in Iola, Texas on January 10, 1936 to Morris C. McGinty and Ruth Armstrong and was adopted at the age of seven by Fred and Laura Nelson. Thelma married the love of her life, Russell Nobles, on July 10th, 1954 and together they raised five children. Her loving and nurturing personality naturally led her into the healthcare field and she worked as a nursing assistant at Navasota Nursing home for almost 20 years. She loved to laugh, and was loved by all who knew her. Thelma was a strong Christian family woman, and diligently read from the scriptures every day. She enjoyed gardening, reading and family time, particularly time spent with her precious grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Leathart and husband Harvey, Denise Wells and companion Darrell Curry, Mary Marek and husband Thomas and Martha Turner; son James “Cut Out” Nobles and wife Sandra; grandchildren Lindsay DeLome and husband Winston, Angela Leathart, Amanda Milatovich and companion Dayriss McGinty, Russell “Rusty” Nobles, Laryn Nobles, Shameka Greer and husband Aaron, Lisa Marek and companion Paul Robinson, Thomas J. “T. J.” Marek and wife Lindsey, Chad Marek and fiancé Demi Newman, Cory Marek and fiancé Candace Wellmann and Broderick “Bud” Turner and fiancé Allie Williams; great-grandchildren Landon and Peyton DeLome, Trayke Leathart, Haley, Lorin and Garet Milatovich and Brayden Turner; great-great grandson Koy James Franklin; brothers Jerry McGinty and wife Jan, Francis McGinty and wife Ima and Richard Craven and wife Mary; sisters Alice March and Doris Silcox and husband Alton; brothers-in-law Joe Nobles, Thomas Nobles and wife Lois, Donald Ray “Shorty” Nobles and wife Gerry, and Ernest Moreland; sisters-in-law Pearl Roese and husband Henry Joe and Effie Addicks and husband Albert.

Serving as pallbearers are Russell “Rusty” Nobles, Laryn Nobles, Thomas J. “T. J. “ Marek, Chad Marek, Cory Marek and Broderick “Bud” Turner. Honorary pallbearers include Landon DeLome, Trayke Leathart, Garet Milatovich, Koy Franklin and Brayden Turner.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband Russell Nobles; sister Ruth Evelyn Armstrong and her faithful canine companion, Trixie.
