Mr. Steven Earl Griggs

Mr. Steven Earl Griggs, 69, of Sugar Land passed went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 14th at his home. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00pm, Friday, December 18th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, December 19th at The Fellowship at Field Store on FM 1488. Rev. John Chivvis will officiate. Interment will be in Courtney Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Steven was born in Pensacola, Florida on August 25, 1946 to Charles and Marvelle Griggs. At this time his family resided in Panama City Beach. By the time he was in the 3rd grade, his family moved to Chipley, Florida, where he lived until he graduated from Chipley High School in 1964. Steve was the oldest of six children. He was blessed with three sisters; Gladys, Beverly and Bobby, as well as two brothers, Charles Kenneth and Chris.
When he graduated from high school, he attended the University of Florida, after a while, Texas Instruments offered him a job and Steve packed up and headed for Texas where he lived for the rest of his life. In 1969 he met Cathy Abercrobie at church. She stole his heart and they were married in 1971. They were blessed with a beautiful baby boy in 1978 and named him Steven E. Griggs, Jr., As God so ordained it, Steve completed his education in Texas with a Masters Degree as he raised and cared for his family. Steven, Jr. met and married a beautiful lady named Amanda Joyce Embrey and they were blessed with two beautiful babies, a girl in 2007 named Caitlyn Hope and a boy in 2010 named Lathan Rayne. Steve really enjoyed being a proud PaPa for the past eight years.
After 35 years at Texas Instruments, Steve retired and for the next few years taught at Outley Elementary in Alief, Texas as well as a college teacher. He accepted Jesus as his Savior as a child at Oakie Ridge Baptist Church and followed Jesus in believers baptism. Steve and Cathy Griggs served Jesus together for 44 years.
Steven is survived by his loving wife, Catherine; their son, Steven Earl Griggs, Jr., and his wife Amanda; two grandchildren, Caitlyn and Lathan; sisters Gladys Griggs, Beverly Jackson, Barbara Morris; and brothers Kenneth and Christopher.
