Sandra Kay (Sandy) Abernathy, 66 of Plantersville passed away Friday, January 26th at CHI Grimes St. Joseph Hospital in Navasota. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Monday, January 29th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of her life will take place at 2:00pm, Tuesday, January 30th, also at the funeral chapel with interment following in Plantersville Cemetery. Rev. David Baldwin will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Sandy was born in Sentinel, Oklahoma on February 27, 1951 to Vernon Hubert and Ora Kathryn (Kay) Brandon. The family moved to the Plantersville area in 1967 and she finished her education at Magnolia High School. Sandy worked at Walmart in Bryan for many years as a stocker and was proud of her job as the "diaper lady". She loved movies, crocheting, playing games online and animals. Above all, she treasured times spent with famly. Sandy never met a stranger and could always be counted on to help in any way she could.
Sandy is survived by her mother, Kay McKinney of Plantersville, daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Marvin Wooley of Plantersville; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Amanda Martin of Tarkington, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Patsy and Roy Day of Lolo, Montana; brothers and sisters-in-law Rick and Susan Hale of Houston and James and Vickie Brandon of Caldwell; stepsister Scharee McGregor of Corpus Christi; grandchildren Veva Wooley, Joseph Wooley, Ashton Martin, Marvine Fortenberry, Stephanie Davis, Edwin Davis, Morgan Killgore and Austin Killgore; 13 great-grandchildren and her devoted canine companions, Yorkies Gordo, Miles and Buttons.
Serving as pallbearers are Larry Martin of Tarkington, Marvin Wooley of Plantersville, Joseph Wooley, also of Plantersville, Rick Hale of Houston, Gus Markowitz of Magnolia and Dylan Tillinghast of Pinehurst.
She was preceded in death by Claude Abernathy, Hubert Brandon, Roy McKinney and all of hwer grandparents.
