Sam Conrad “Sammy” McElroy, 73, of Navasota, TX formerly of Carthage, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016, in Navasota. He was born on March 24, 1943, in Carthage to the late Sam Coy and Gladys Pauline Parker “Polly” McElroy. Sammy worked as a pipeline welding inspector until his retirement. He married Terry Pederson on July 13, 2000, in Decatur. Sammy was a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge #521 A.F. & A.M. and Sharon Temple Shrine. He moved to Navasota from Carthage in 2000. Sammy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Adria Lee McElroy.
Survivors include his wife, Terry McElroy of Navasota; son, Coy McElroy and wife Katherine of Carthage; daughters, Nancy Sepulvado and husband Monroe of Laneville and Vickie Morris and husband Mike of Carthage; brother, Charles W. McElroy and wife Trudy of Carthage; sister-in-law, Bonita McElroy of Carthage; grandchildren, Mauri Pierce and husband Chance, Megan Schroeder, Ashlee Watson, Taylor McElroy, and Colton McElroy; and great-grandchildren, Kirsten Pierce and Cierra Williams.
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Bro. Jerry Anderson and Pastor Matt Comer officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow in Restland Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Coy McElroy, Lee McElroy, Monroe Sepulvado, Mike Morris, Jimmy Davis, and Bill Terrel.
The family would like to thank Dr. C.H. Prihoda, his nurse, Shannon Botkin, and the staff of Golden Creek Nursing and Rehab for the care they showed Sammy. Also, all of their family and friends for their support and love.
