Ruby Oswald

September 17, 1917 — April 28, 2010

Ruby Oswald, 92, of Iola, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, April 28, 2010. The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm Friday, April 30, at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota. Funeral services are set for 2pm Saturday at Iola Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Doug Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Oswald was born in McGregor on September 17, 1917, to W.C. & Lelia O'Dell. She attended schools in McGregor and South Bosque, where she played basketball, competing in the state championship finals in 1934. She was a co-founder of the Iola Hobby Club, an avid quilt and pillow maker, and a life long adult Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 61 years, Gilmor Oswald; and her brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, Ronald & Brenda Oswald of Nocona; daughter & son-in-law, Elayne & William Nevill of Iola; grandchildren, Derek & Tracy Oswald of Nocona, Blake & Wendy Oswald of Encino, CA, Scot & Dedra Nevill of Iola, and JoLyn & Jed Haby of Iola; very special great-grandchildren, Alex, Cutter, Ryder, Will, Tatum, Taylor, Katie & Megan.

Serving as pallbearers are Matt Carey, Tommy McDougald, Dennis Pollard, Mike O'Dell, Randy O'Dell and Joe Farmer. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Oswald, Bill Oswald and Mike Oswald.

The family would like to send a very special thanks to the health care nurses and staff of Crestview.
