Mr. Roy Marius Thane, 78 of Navasota, passed away Monday, April 18th at his home. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, April 21st from 5:00 – 7:00pm at Nobles Funeral Chapel with a prayer service to follow at 7:00pm. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 22nd at 10:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Matthias Dinger officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Marius was born in Courtney, TX on March 16, 1938, to Fritz and Minnie (Hemann) Thane. He graduated from Navasota High School in 1956. He married Jennie Thuro from Paola, Kansas on Friday, November 13, 1959, and together they owned and operated a dairy farm for 42 years before retiring in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law Selma and Herbert Busse; brothers, Edwin, Fred and Wilbert Thane; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Hala Thuro; sister-in-law Ruth Jacobs; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dwight and Nancy Thuro and brothers-in-law, Johnny Joswiak and Wilson Shive.
Mr. Thane is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jennie Thane; sons, Ricky Thane and his wife Mary of Navasota and Todd Thane and his wife Sherry also of Navasota; daughter Jamie Crowder and her husband Danny of Conroe; sisters, Nelda Shive of Navasota and Rosa Joswiak of Navasota; brother Alvin Thane and his wife Irmgard of Centerville; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Thane, Alice Thane and Vermel Thane all of Navasota; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean Ann and Larry Wood of Ottawa, Kansas; and grandchildren, Justin Thane, Clayton Thane, Courtney Thane, Brien Crowder, Chase Crowder, Parker Thane and Jarod Thane.
All of his grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
