Ronny R Hassell, 64, of Navasota, gave up a fighting battle with cancer Sunday, June 22, 2008 in Navasota.
Visitation will be at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota on Tuesday, June 24, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 25 at Nobles Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mac Vaughn officiating. Interment will be in Hendricks Cemetery in Rusk. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Ronny was born on June 29, 1943 in Houston. He traveled intensively in his pipeline work overseas in Peru, Norway, and Iran and many U.S. states. He then settled down in Navasota in 1993 and worked for his brother in highway construction. He had many hobbies and a favorite was farming. "The Hassell Bunch" invited over 400 descendants for an annual get-together in Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Hassell.
Ronny is survived by his wife, Freda Merle (Sprinkle) Hassell; mother, Allie Lee Hassell; sons and daughter-in-law, Roy Hassell, Shane Hassell, Curtis Hassell, and Ray & Jenna Hassell; daughter, Ronna Lawson; step-son, Tim Hulse; Step-son and daughter-in-law, Lynn & Kay Hulse; Step-daughters and son-in-laws, Cinday & Michael Meador and Karen Robbins & Rick; brother and sister-in-laws, James & Jo Hassell and Dennis & Joann Hassell; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brazos Valley Hospice.
