Rogelio Garcia Lira, 88, of Navasota passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at the Sheridan of Navasota Nursing Home.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Friday, March 21 at the home of Diana Munoz, 1810 Kevin Ct in Navasota. Funeral services will be 6:00 pm. Saturday at Oakland Cemetery with the Rev. Raul Marterior of Christ Our Light Catholic Church officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Rogelio was born in Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on November 18, 1919, the son of Daniel and Adela (Garcia) Lira. He was a retired steel plant worker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brothers-in-law Esther and Francisco Solis, Hortencia and Eutiquid Vela, Flor Estela & Jose Angel Gomez, son-in-law Emilio Munoz Jr., brothers Rito, Reynaldo and Valdemar Lira and sister-in-law Maria Magdalena Lira.
Rogelio is survived daughter Diana Lira Munoz of Navasota, son Antonio Lira or Courtney, daughter-in-law Maggie Lira of Navasota, sisters-in-law Carolina Lira of Montemorelos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and Alversa Lira of Edcouch, TX, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
