Mr. Robert "Bob" L. Clements, 72 of Navasota, passed away Friday, November 23rd at his home. Visitation with the family was held from 6-8pm Tuesday, November 27th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services were held at 10:00am Wednesday at the Bedias Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerald Brown officiating. Graveside services will be Thursday at 11:00am in the Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Robert "Bob" L. Clements was born on September 23, 1940, in Edna, Texas, to I.B. and Jessie Mae Clements. He Graduated from Louise High School in 1957, where he was a 4-H Gold Star Boy, showed the Grand Champion Calf at the Wharton County Fair and played in a Czech band. Bob began his college career at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity, and he went on to earn his BS degree in Mathematics from the University of Houston. Bob served in the US Navy from 1959-1963, as 2nd Class Petty Officer (E5) Electronics Technician on the USS Point Defiance, USS Sandoval and USS Spiegel Grove, as well as in the Cuban Blockade. A few years later, while working for the City of Houston, Bob met the love of his life, Connie. They married November 30, 1968, and had four children (and 10 grandchildren) who kept him active in Cub Scouts and Alief Little League baseball. Bob worked at Union Texas Petroleum as a Mainframe and Database Programmer for 17 years before retiring in 1997 and moving to his own "piece of heaven" at Beaver Creek Ranch in Bedias, Texas. He came out of retirement to work at MHMRA of Brazos Valley as an Information Systems Manager from 2000-2002. During his second retirement, Bob served as President of the Bedias Civic Club from 2005-2007. He was active in the Grimes County Republican Party as its webmaster, served as a Grimes County Precinct 7 Chairman and Election Judge, was a member of the Madisonville American Legion and a Charter Member of the AMVETS Bobby Twitty Post 105. Bob loved the outdoors and spent many summers camping with his family, fishing with his kids and grandkids, and riding around on his tractor. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob is survived by his wife, Connie Clements of Navasota; daughters, Stacy Hopkins of Lumberton and Jessica Clements of Cypress; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Ericka Clements of San Antonio and Robert Lee and Sarah Clements, Jr. of Katy; sister, Linda Tupa of Deer Park and brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Laurel Clements of Louise.
Serving as pallbearers are Steven Clements of San Antonio, Robert L. Clements, Jr. of Katy, J.D. Hodges of Navasota, Michael Tupa of Deer Park, Daniel Riebschlager of Pearland and Charlie Abraham of Anderson.
