Mrs. Refugia "Cuca" Castro, 85, of Navasota, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. Visitation will be held from 5 - 7pm Friday, May 15, with a parish rosary following at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota. A funeral mass is set for 8am Saturday, May 16, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church with Reverend Raul Marterior officiating. Rite of committal will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Castro was born July 6, 1923 in Piedas Negra, Mexico to Pedro and Norberta (Canno) Dominguez. She married Cruz Castro on July 17, 1943.
"Cuca" is survived by her daughters, Ruby Tijerina of Round Rock, Rosemary Ramos, Vera Pimentel and husband Albert, and Mary Penaloza and husband Raul, all of Navasota; sons, Jessie Castro of Nederland, Charlie Castro and wife Ramona, Cruz Castro, Jr. and wife Orvalia, Rudy Castro and wife Janet, Robert Castro and wife Sandra, and Raymond Castro, all of Navasota; daughter-in-law, Rosie Castro of Las Cruces, NM; sisters, Lucy Parker of Santa Fe, Louisa Valadez and husband Gene, and Chevie Gurrola and husband Victor, all of Houston; brother, Johnny Dominguez of Navasota; sisters-in-law, Mela Dominguez and Virginia Dominguez, both of Houston; 29 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Manuel and John Castro; brothers, Max and Tony Dominguez.
Her grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
