Philip was born in Navasota, Texas on December 6, 1944 to Stash and Pricilla (Kominczak) Vezorak. He attended school in Richards and graduated from Richards High School in 1963. After graduation, he joined the U. S. Navy and was stationed in the Phillipines where he proudly served his country. Upon returning stateside, he met and married Brenda Merdian in 1970. Together they had two daughters and although they would later divorce, they remained very close throughout his life.
Philip was an avid Aggie and Astros fan. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and attending Wurstfest. Most people remembered him from the Country Moose in Richards – renamed Phil’s Place. He was known to be blunt, opinionated and head strong, yet he was loved and admired by many. He was a supervisor in the construction industry and his career would take him from California to Chicago and many places in between before settling back down and making his home in Navasota. Saturday mornings would find him in Richards, visiting with friends over breakfast and coffee. Philip was an active member of the Navasota Evening Lions Club and St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. His grandchildren brought him much joy and he enjoyed spending time with them.
Philip is survived by his daughters, Julie and Jill Vezorak; grandchildren, Cortney Alfaro, Alex Barnett, Makoy Barnett, Ashton Barnett and Brylee Barnett; mother of his daughters, Brenda Vezorak and father of his grandchildren, Daniel Barnett as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Henry Hoke, Rodney Turner, Ronny Haynie, Bobby Smith, Al Meschke and Daniel Barnett. The Navasota Evening Lions Club members are named as Honorary Bearers.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Philip’s name be made to The Navasota Evening Lions Club, P. O. Box 68; Navasota, TX 77868.
