Oran Russell

October 21, 1949 — November 19, 2009

Mr. Oran "Gene" Russell, 60, of Normangee, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at his residence. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Saturday, November 21 at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota, and funeral services are set for 2pm Sunday, November 22, at Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson with Rev. Dan Schoessow officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Church Cemetery.
Mr. Russell was born October 21, 1949 in Hearne, to Robert and Clara (Smith) Russell. He married Evelyn Emshoff in Anderson on September 30, 1973. He was a farm machinery and auto mechanic for most of his working life and will be best remembered for his love of fishing and his willingness to help others. He always said, "If you don't have friends, family, and the Lord, you don't have anything".
He was preceded in death by his father and niece, Amanda Newsom.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife of 36 years, Evelyn Russell; mother, Clara Russell of Mumford; children, Christopher James Russell and Amy Lynn Russell of Normangee, and William Robert "Billy" Russell of Weir; grandchildren, Blaine Christopher Russell and Dustin Alan Russell of Navasota, Matthew Tyler Russell of Milwaukee,WI, Koen Bradley Russell of Alaska, and Charles Garrett Russell of Weir; brother, Ronald Russell and wife Sharon of Franklin; sisters, Jane Ellis of Bryan, Elaine Montandon of Hearne, Hazel Johnson and husband Vernon of Farmersville, and Carol Newsom of Mumford; brother-in-law Clarence Emshoff and wife Geraldine of Willis; sister-in-law, Velma Smith and husband Frank of Anderson; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Hershel Perry, Derell Norris, Ed LaGravier, Larry Cravey, Luke Colette and Ben Villarreal.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery Association (current expenses) in Anderson, or the Hospice Brazos Valley in Bryan.
