Mrs. Opal Christine Cowan, 84, of Navasota passed away Friday, January 1, 2010 at the Grimes St. Joseph Regional Health Center. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Tuesday, January 5 at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are set for 2:00pm Wednesday, January 6 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Clyde Larrabee officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
Opal was born September 27, 1925 to Cloyde & Mable (Hughs) Ball in Farwell, TX. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Navasota, and of Memorial Baptist Church of Navasota.
Mrs. Cowan was preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd Blackmon and Fred Cowan; and son, Kenneth Leon Blackman.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Terri & James Wiley of Montgomery, and Rita & Dewey Davis of Plantersville; sisters & brothers-in-law, Mable & A.J. Massengale of Borger, Nancy & James Campbell of Tyler, Norma Bosley of Skellytown, Bertha McLane of Anomasa, IA, and Dorothy & Zeke Clement of Stinnett; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Wiley, Anthony Wiley and Timothy Wiley, all of Montgomery; Dewey Davis of Plantersville; Weldon Stanton, Jr., of Lockharte, and Ricky Moreland of Navasota.
