Minnie V. Cassel, 92, of Navasota, passed away October 13, 2013, at her home. She was born on January 3, 1921, the daughter of Walter Virden and Myrtice Alma (Cooper) Virden, in Griffin, GA and graduated from Griffin High School in 1939. She married Fred C. Cassel , Jr. on September 4, 1942, in Miami. FL.
Minnie served as a volunteer at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston and served as assistant to Mary Greenwood in the organization of Houston’s first March of Dimes Mothers March on polio. She was a former member of Brae Burn Country Club and Briarcrest Country Club. She was also a member of Miramont Country Club.
Mrs. Cassel was preceded in death by her husband, Fred C. Cassel, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Jim B. Cassel and his wife Diane of Navasota and her granddaughter Kelly Kelsey of Bellingham, WA.
