Mrs. Mildred Marie Prescott, 92, of Navasota passed away Thursday, August 27th at Golden Creek Healthcare and Rehab in Navasota. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, August 31st at 11:00am at Nobles Funeral Chapel with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. Rev. Clyde Larrabee will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Prescott was born in Brownsville, Texas on November 24, 1922 to J. L. and Maggie Mae (Morrill) Griffin. She was raised in Santa Paula, California but returned to Texas where she met and married L. P. Prescott. They settled in Navasota and together raised three children. L. P. Prescott passed away in 1985. A few years later, she married Dr. Bryan Beard.
Mildred lived a very active lifestyle, she loved the outdoors and enjoyed travelling… anywhere, anytime. She was a small woman (hence her nickname she carried throughout life, “Doll” and “Aunt Doll”), full of life and laughter. She once landed a 30lb catfish! She took great pride in her flower gardens and entertaining for family and friends. She adored her children and grandchildren, as well as her beloved “Bully”, her canine companion who passed away in April of this year.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Jim Cassel of Navasota; sons and daughter-in-law Danny and Kathy Prescott of Navasota and David Prescott, also of Navasota; grandchildren Chris Prescott of McKinney, Stephen Prescott of Dobbin, Daniel Prescott, II., of Navasota, Farron & Justin Eickenhorst also of Navasota and Cary & Steve Edwards of Naples, FL; great-grandchildren Remmington, Rhiannon, Dillon, Britton, and Shayna Prescott and Lucas & Nathan Edwards; and great, great-grandson Stephen.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris Prescott of McKinney, Stephen Prescott of Dobbin, Daniel Prescott of Navasota, Shane Prescott of Navasota, Remmington Prescott of McKinney and Anthony Fontana of Houston.
Mrs. Prescott is preceded in death by her parents; husbands L. P. Prescott and Dr. Bryan Beard; sister Elaine Greene of Santa Ana, CA; brother J. L. Griffin, Jr., of Mineral Wells and grandson Brian Prescott.
