Melissa Dawn Boenker, 49, of Navasota, died October 15, 2014 at Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan, Texas. A visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Nobles Funeral Chapel from 5 - 7 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., at Friedens Church of Washington, U.C.C., with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Ron Trimmer and Rev. Greg Felder will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Melissa was born October 7, 1965 in Navasota. She graduated from Navasota High School in 1984 and was a member of Friedens Church of Washington in Washington, Texas. Due to disability, Melissa was a resident of The Sheridan (Golden Creek) Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Navasota, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father Marius Boenker, step father Harold J. Abshier, step father Benjamin F. Swank, Jr., maternal grandparents Arnold & Ivena Roese, fraternal grandparents Fritz J. & Malinda Boenker, uncle & aunt Wilbert (Bobby) & Mae Belle Boenker and cousin Russell Boenker.
She is survived by her mother, Nancy K. Swank, brother Justin Boenker, sister Kathleen Abshier-Dimmel and husband Mark, niece Hannah Dimmel, nephew Aaron Joswiak, step sister Sharon Swank Backhus, step brother Benjamin F. Swank, III and wife Susie, all of Navasota. Aunts, Joyce Walkoviak and husband Marion of Kingwood. Nadine Roese McVey of Anderson, and Susie Nolan and husband Tim of Liberty. Uncles Arnold (Bubba) Roese, John Neal Roese and wife Dianne of Washington, Don Wayne Roese and wife Teresa of Navasota, William (Billy) Boenker and wife Barbara Joyce of Washington and numerous cousins, step nieces and nephews and friends.
Pallbearers are Swank Backhus of Navasota, Preston Boenker of Washington and Wayne Boenker of College Station, Randy Roese of Anderson, Bobby Walkoviak of Houston, Jay Wells and Joshua Wells of Humble and Kameron Wisnoski of Navasota. Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Boenker, Bubba Roese, and John Neal Roese of Washington, Don Wayne Roese of Navasota, Marion Walkoviak of Kingwood and Shane Werchan of San Antonio
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Melissa's name to Hospice Brazos Valley, Friedens Church of Washington UCC or St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
