Maurine Becker Wehmeyer, 87, of Anderson went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Thursday, October 13 at Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota. Funeral services are set for 10am Friday, October 14 at Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson, with the Rev. Chris Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Maurine was born July 2, 1924 in Anderson to Wilhelm Louise Heinrich "Billie" and Hanna Emma Marie (Abke) Becker. After graduating from Anderson High School in 1942, Maurine attended Southwest Business School in Houston. Maurine married Fred W. Wehmeyer of Anderson on June 7, 1947 and began a career with Gulf Oil Company where she worked for 30 years in accounting before retiring to Anderson.
Upon returning to Anderson, Maurine and Fred took over and grew the family business Anderson Water Company, where they worked side by side along with their son Rickey for many years.
Maurine spent many hours researching family genealogy, developing an avid interest and joy in the discovery of her ancestors. In addition, her hobbies and joy of life included quilting, cooking and her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother and sister-in-law, David and Mabel Louise Johanna (Haferkamp) Becker; and brother, Roland Becker.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rickey Dale and Julie D. Wehmeyer; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Lynn (Becker) and Tommy Dwayne Ross of Anderson. She also leaves behind granddaughters Bailey Marie Wehmeyer, Taylor Ann Ross and Abigail Lynn Ross as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church of Anderson.
