Mr. Maure J. Tassin, 79, of Navasota passed away Thursday, December 8th at Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 8:00 – 10:00am, Tuesday, December 13th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of his life will take place immediately after visitation at 10:00am, also at the funeral home. Robert Tassin will officiate. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Navasota. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Maure was born on January 1, 1937 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Maure J. and Beulah Francis (Carlton) Tassin. He married Genevie Juanita Salisbury on March 5, 1955 and together they raised three sons. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Tassin spent most of his life in the construction industry but is perhaps best known for the rocking horses he made in Navasota. Also known as the “Rockin Horse Man”, he took great pride in his craftsmanship.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Genevie Tassin of Navasota; sons and daughter-in-law Robert and Barbara Tassin, Bruce Tassin and Steven Tassin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
