Mrs. Mary Virginia (Sanford) Westmoreland, 80, of Anderson passed away Thursday, September 27th at her home. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Visitation with family and friends will begin an hour prior to the service. Rev. Rick Bell will officiate. Interment will be at 4:00pm, Thursday, October 4th at Olive Branch Cemetery in Doddridge, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mary was born on December 2, 1937 in Houston, Texas to Jessie Clintion and Cleva Mae (Jones) Sanford. She married Jay Edward Westmoreland on May 11, 1985 in Humble, Texas. She was a hairdresser and joyfully took care of her family, whom she doted on and spoiled. Nothing made her heart smile than being surround by family, friends and her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary loved to dance, and was a devoted Elvis Presley fan. She was a kind, generous woman who enjoyed cooking, watching "The Voice", and spending time with her four cats.
She is survived by her husband Jay; sons and daughters-in-law Jimmy Shurley, Jason and Melanie Westmoreland, Benny and Melodye Westmoreland and Barry and Marion Westmoreland; sisters-in-law Sandra and Tammy; grandchildren Darrin, Dammon and Jayce Westmoreland, Shaunte Lawrence, Kristen Barcelo, and Brook and Briana Westmoreland; 6 great-grandchildren and four feline furbabies.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sons Dennis, Tommy, Larry and Robbie Shurley and granddaughter Ami Michelle Ordonez.
