Mary Kroll Mattern, 86, of Richards, passed away Monday, August 11, 2008, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, August 14 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson with Rev. Ed Kucera officiating. Rites of committal will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7:00 p.m. at the church with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mary was born Friday, September 9, 1921 in Richards, Texas, to Stella (Baranowski) and John J. Kroll. She was an elementary school teacher for many years with Houston ISD. She was a life member of the Retired Teachers Association and a member of the Altar Society at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and the Grimes County Farm Bureau.
Mary is survived by her husband Albert Mattern; sons and daughters-in-law, Mauris & Ginia Mattern of Beach City, Don & Helen Mattern of Sugar Land, Jim Mattern of Houston, and Russell & Debbie Mattern of Houston; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Wrobleski of Anderson and Loukattie & Eugene Burzynski of Richards; and brother and sister-in-law, Pete & Margaret Kroll of Harlingen; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are John Mattern of Houston, Jerry Mattern of Houston, Michael Wrobleski of Anderson, Gerard Burzynski of Katy, Leo Burzynski of Richards, and Kenny Mattern of Houston.
