Graveside services will follow at 2:00PM in Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch with the Rev. Clyde Larrabee officiating. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines will be observed. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mary Elizabeth was born on November 24, 1933 to Albert and Mary (Fulsom) Rice. In June of 1951, she married Leland Edwin Clepper. Together they had one daughter. Mary Elizabeth loved to cook and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with family and friends gathered around snacking and talking. Her morning ritual consisted of a cup of coffee on the porch, followed by a bowl of Blue Bell ice cream while watching her soap operas. She was proud of her family, and never missed a recital, sporting event or school function that her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren participated in. She always looked forward to a trip to the Louisianna casinos every couple of years. Kindhearted, yet outspoken and blunt, you could always count on her for an honest opinion.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Mary Catherine (Cathy) Easterling; brothers and sisters-in-law Donald and Margaret Rice and Clarence and Charlene Rice; grandchildren Joseph Easterling, Jr. and Melissa Lynn Martinez; great-grandchildren Andrea Cook, Shelby Easterling, Megan Easterling, Michaela Martinez, Joseph Easterling, III., Adam Easterling and Colton Gonzalez; and great-great grandchildren Payson, Brody and Joe Cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leland Clepper, sisters Nonnie, Bonnie and Pearl; and brother, Ray Rice.
