Martin Ybarra, 49, of Navasota, passed away on September 13, 2014 at the College Station Medical Center. Calling hours will be held at Nobles Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 12:00 – 5:00pm with the family present from 5:00 – 8:00pm. Martin's celebration of life service will be held at Nobles Funeral Chapel on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Lupe Ybarra will officiate. Interment will immediately follow in Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Martin was born on February 21, 1965 in Navasota to Augustine and Rafaela (Melchor) Ybarra. Martin graduated from Navasota High School in 1983 and was currently employed by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 12 years as a Correctional Officer V. Martin enjoyed and cherished any time he could spend with his family. His hobbies included fishing, softball, bbq'n, Nascar, golfing, rodeo, shooting pool and any outdoor activity. Martin was also very involved with the youth of Navasota where he coached the Venom Youth Football team and was involved in coaching with the Navasota Little League Organization.
Martin is survived by his father Augustine Ybarra of Navasota; daughter and son-in-law Tara and Miles Hamilton of College Station; son, Brandon McClarnon of Iola; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pastor Lupe and Cindy Ybarra, Tommy Ybarra and Chris Ybarra all of Navasota, Jessie and Sharon Ybarra of Humble and Joe Ybarra from Canton, Ohio; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosemary and Michael Harper, Linda and Michael Surface and Renee Ybarra, all from Navasota, Janie and Shanan Outland from Deanville, Tx, Beverly and Rodney Tyler from Waco, Sally and Robert Hosea from Huntsville, Susie and Michael Brooks from Washington, Betty and Chris Sapaugh from Sulphur Springs, Lisa and Charles Cooke from College Station; grandson, Mars Hamilton and Goddaughter Kimberly Harper. Martin is a loving uncle to 38 nieces and nephews who he loved dearly and the newest addition to the family, whom he considered his special BFF, Anniston Grace Sharp. Martin also leaves behind his close friends Larry and Jayne Cantu along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers and friends.
Martin was preceded in death by his mother, Rafaela Ybarra.
Serving as pallbearers are Larry Cantu, David Villanueva, Casey Parrott, Michael Surface, Michael Brooks, Ty’Landric Ybarra, Robert Hosea and Charles Cooke. Honorary pallbearers are his son, grandson, brothers, brothers-in-law, son-in-law and his TDCJ family.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society-Pancreatic Cancer Fund in honor of Martin Ybarra.
