Mr. Martin Homeyer, 80, of Navasota passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at his residence. Visitation was held from 5 to 7pm Friday, May 29 at Nobles Funeral Chapel, with a prayer service at 7pm. Funeral services were held at 10:30am Saturday, May 30 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Navasota with Rev. Don Kasper officiating. Interment followed in Oakland Cemetery.
Mr. Homeyer was born November 29, 1928 to Adolph and Martha (Tockhorn) Homeyer. He married Mary Lee Roese on June 12, 1955 in Washington. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he was employed by the Texas Department of Transportation for 34 years. He was also a member of the Texas Retired State Employers Association, Anderson American Legion Post # 640 and the Texas Public Employees Association.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Homeyer of Navasota, daughter, Kathy Horne and husband Charles, Jr. of Huntsville; son, David M. Homeyer of Navasota; brother-in-law, Bernhardt Finke of Conroe; sisters-in-law, Frances Roese of Montgomery and Patricia Roese of Washington; and grandchildren, Krystin and Dalton Horne.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Esther Finke.
Serving as pallbearers were Douglas Finke of Cypress, Fred Homeyer, Marvin Struckmeyer, Tommy Voelter, Jinx Lee and Adolph Feldman, all of Navasota, Scott McKinney of College Station and Larry Kopecky of Washington. Honorary pallbearers were Dalton Horne of Huntsville and Mace Meekins, Thomas Finke and Skeeter Stolz, all of Navasota.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or The Brazos Valley Hospice.
