Martin was born in San Luis, Mexico on April 17, 1935, to both Leon Espinosa and Cristiana (Alvarez) Espinosa. To this union, seven children including Martin were born. He was employed with the City of Navasota for 15 years.

He was a kind, compassionate, supportive, and reliable individual. Martin enjoyed farming, ranching, serving the community of Navasota, spending quality time with family and friends, and hosting events outdoors. To know Martin was to love him. The two of them later married and spent a blissful 60 years of marriage together. To this union, eight children were born: Alberto, Amador, Rojelio, Clemente, Maria, Teresa, Guadalupe, Maria, Juanita, and Ana.

Preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Cristiana Espinosa; his wife, Sotera Sylva Espinosa; his brothers, Jose Espinosa, Franciso Espinosa, Andres Espinosa; his sisters, Juana Espinosa, Marciana Espinosa, Senovia Espinosa; his grandsons, Alberto Espinosa, Jr., Emmanuel Sanchez, and Felipe Sanchez, III.
