Mrs. Margie Smoot

Mrs. Margie Smoot, 103, of Navasota, passed away on Sunday, June 21st at Navasota Nursing & Rehab. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 -7:00pm, Monday, June 22nd at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 23rd at 10:00am at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Margie was born October 17, 1911, to Vannie and Matt Bell in Gregg County in a little community called Friendship. She went to school there. When she started high school, they moved to Gladewater where she graduated in 1930. In 1931, they moved to Tyler where she lived until July 22, 1932, when she married Louis Smoot. In 1934, they moved to Navasota and bought a house on North LaSalle where they lived until 1978, when they bought the house where they lived ever since.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and siblings.
