Manuel Quinones, Jr., 75 of Navasota, passed away Sunday, January 16th at his home. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Friday, January 28th at Nobles Funeral Chapel, followed by a parish rosary at 7:00 pm. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday , January 29th, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Oakland cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Manuel was born in Houston, Texas on August 26, 1946 to Manuel Quinones and Reyes Jaramillo. He was one of ten children and grew up in the southeast side of the Houston area and was known to family and close friends as “Magnolia”. He married San Juanita Perez on November 1, 1965. Together, they had four children. He worked as a roofer of his own roofing company to support his family. Several family members worked with him in the family business.
Manuel is survived by his son, Thomas Quinones; daughters and son-in-law, Felicia Quinones and Angela and Sergio Morales; brothers and sister-in-law Joe and Rosie Quinones, Jimmy Quinones and Danny Quinones; sisters and brothers-in-law Cecilia Salgado, Amelia Mindiola, Victoria Quinones and Jeanette and Gilbert Morin; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, San Juanita; son Manuel Quinones, III.; grandchildren David and Ashley Torres and best friend Manuel “McGilla” Ortiz.
Serving as pallbearers are Gilbert Morin, Sergio Morales, Robert Morales, Robert Moreno, Samuel Quintero, Joe Torres, Mari Jayne Sherman, Armando Garcia, Eddie Cantu and Troy Sherman.
