Mrs. Mae Belle (Buck) Boenker, 84, of Washington passed away Wednesday, October 23rd at St. Joseph Regional Hospital. Visitation will be Friday, October 25th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26th at 10:30 a.m. at Friedens Church of Washington, UCC with the Rev. Greg Felder officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mae Belle was born to Willie F. & Ida (Lauter) Buck on October 8, 1929, in Washington. She was baptized on November 17, 1929, by Rev. Alvin A. Blome at Friedens Evangelical & Reformed Church and confirmed April 18, 1943, by Rev. Paul Piepenbrok at which she recited John 11, 25 & 26 as her memory work.
After attending Washington School, she attended and graduated from Brenham High School in 1946, and then graduated from Blinn College in 1948. Mae Belle then worked briefly for the Navasota clinic. She married Wilbert “Bobby” Boenker on March 5, 1950, at Friedens Evangelical & Reformed Church with the Rev. Paul Piepenbrok officiating.
Mae Belle loved Women Fellowship and served all offices while able. She worked in the Sunday school as well as Vacation Bible School and served on the church council twice. Above all she helped her husband on the ranch diligently. She also served as an election judge of Precinct 1 in Washington County.
Mrs. Boenker was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert “Bobby” Boenker; son, Robert Russell Boenker; parents, Willie & Ida Buck; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma & Troy Wilson, Annie Mae & Fred Schroeder, and Marius Boenker; brother, Fritz W. Buck; nephews, Everett Robert Hatch and Jerry Wayne Hatch; niece Claudia Bonner; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fritz J. & Malinda Boenker.
She is survived by her grandson Preston D. Boenker and wife Melissa of Washington; granddaughter, Tina Boenker Groce and husband Justin of Washington; great-grandsons, Lane Bobby Boenker, Dustin Roy Boenker, Robert Brady Boenker, Kash Wilhelm Groce and Koleson Dean Groce; sister, Katherine Adkins of Navasota; brother-in-law, Billy Boenker and wife Barbara Joyce of Washington; special and devoted friend, Edna Schroeder of Washington and numerous nieces and nephews, friends and cousins.
Serving as pallbearers are Preston Boenker, Donnie Wilson, Don Jarvis, Wayne Boenker, Jerrel Schovajsa, Justin Groce, Danny Kurten and Marion Busa. Honorary pallbearers are Edna Schroeder, Edith Dickschat, Rose Lee Lohmeyer, Justin Boenker, Melissa Boenker, Mary Helen Steele, Lane Bobby Boenker, Dustin Roy Boenker, Robert Brady Boenker, Kash Wilhelm Groce and Koleson Dean Groce.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friedens Church of Washington, UCC.
