Lydia Fuqua, 82, of Navasota, died Tuesday morning, February 11th at Navasota Nursing & Rehab Center. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, February 14th from 5:00 until 7:00pm at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, February 15th at 10:00am, also at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Rev. L. C. Lee officiated. Interment will follow in Whitehall Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Hadley Harvel of College Station, Gerard Phillips of Spring, Brad Hinze of Brenham, Robert Logan of Tomball, Bobby Hurst and Cole Hurst, both of Navasota.
Lydia was born May 31, 1931, in Navasota to Floyd and Effie (Brewer) Nobles. She was a lifelong resident of Navasota and a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Lydia worked for years as a nurse’s aide at the hospital in Navasota.
Mrs. Fuqua is survived by her daughters, Jackie and husband Pat Phillips of Roans Prairie; Linda and husband Allan Hinze of Brenham and Darlene Vogler and friend Jimmy, also of Brenham; sister Bessie Harville of Navasota and brother Gerald and Betty Nobles of Bryan, as well as eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don Fuqua; the father of her four daughters, Howard Ferguson; daughter Patsy Lewis, grandson Bubba Wellbrock; granddaughter Monica Marie Phillips, two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Erin Nobles, Luther and Joyce Nobles, sister Ruby Sage and brother-in law Bobby Harville.
