Mr. Loy "Cowboy" Martin, 91 of Plantersville, passed away Tuesday, April 17th at his home. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5:00 - 7:00pm, Friday, April 27th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of his life will be at 10:00am, Saturday, April 28th, also at the funeral home with Masonic graveside services immediately following in Plantersville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Loy was born in Terrell, Texas on August 20, 1926 to George and Carrie (Ward) Martin. He married Lois Jane Zimerman and together they raised four children. Loy earned the nickname “Cowboy” early in life while riding saddle bronc in the rodeo circuit. He loved everything about horses, rodeo, cattle and ranching. He enjoyed the challenge breaking horses and was quite good at it. He was outgoing and friendly, quick to tip his hat and offer a handshake. Cowboy worked in construction as a carpenter to support his family, but later in life it was cattle ranching that brought him much happiness and joy. Cowboy also enjoyed the comraderie and brotherhood of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member and former Tyler of Lodge 1096 in Tomball and Pleasant Hill Lodge 380. He looked forward to trips that he and his masonic brothers planned each year.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters and sons-in-law Rosanne and Michael Conner, Sr. of Plantersville and Rheta and Ronny Livingston of Ocean Springs, MS; sons and daughters-in-law Rodney and Linda Martin of Spring and Russell and Leslie Martin of Magnolia; sister-in-law Patsy Zimerman of Alvin; ten grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Conner, Jr., Rosen Christov, Mark Pinter, Josh Pinter, Otto Carl and Bruce Preckwinkle.
Loy was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Lois Jane Martin.
