Lisa Bowman, 58, of San Antonio passed away Saturday, July 14, at her family's home in Navasota after a lengthy and hard fought battle with cancer. A celebration of life is scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Navasota with Rev. Mac Vaughn officiating.
Elizabeth Leigh Harris Bowman was born August 6, 1953 the daughter of Earl Harris Jr. and Iris (Etheridge) Harris. Lisa was raised in Navasota and was graduated from Navasota High School. She attended Blinn College and Texas Tech University. She was a secretary/timer in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). She worked closely with Heart of Texas Greyhound Association as well as Paws for Service as a volunteer. Her great love was for rescued greyhounds. Lisa boarded greyhounds at her home for many years. Her infectious personality, boldness and compassion for others are the reasons she called so many her 'great friends'. She would do anything for her family and friends - nothing was more important to her.
Once diagnosed with breast cancer she became a warrior. Her goal was to beat this enemy and inspire others along the way, and inspire she did. Her courage in the face of her illness will continue to inspire those who knew her for years to come.
