Linda Sue (Smyer) Hughey, 64 of Navasota, passed away Friday, February 15, 2019 at her home. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Yankee’s Tavern in Carlos, Texas.
Linda was born on February 13, 1955 in Levelland, Texas to Kelsey Smyer and Joyce Seger Smyer. After graduating from high school, Linda attended South Plains College and completed her certification in Real Estate. Shortly after, she relocated to Houston where she worked at Texas Farm Bureau as a Claims Adjuster. She met Jeff Hughey when visiting friends in Anderson and they were married shortly after. Upon her relocation to Anderson, Linda began working as an administrative assistant at Texas Municipal Power Agency where she thoroughly enjoyed working and made many friends. Linda and Jeff had one daughter, Shawn.
Linda will be most remembered as an amazing friend, always putting others first. She enjoyed spending time with friends and taking trips and when their daughter was younger, camping as a family. Cooking was also something she enjoyed, and as time permitted, watching her favorite television shows.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff Hughey; daughter Shawn Mays; grandchildren Layton, Isabella, Chandler and Dominick Mays; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Glenna Smyer; niece and nephews Jennifer Weaks and husband Jeff, Dallas Smyer and wife Heather, Austin Smyer and Kirstan Sifford and Sidney Smyer, as well as many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother James Kelsey Smyer and son-in-law Roger Mays.
