Lida Mae was born in Houston, Texas on August 23, 1930 to David and Lydia (Danford) Roberson. She married Harold L. Evans and together they raised five children. Mrs. Evans worked as a medical secretary for the VA Hospital in Houston until her retirement. Dedicated to service and commitment, Lida Mae was an active member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Houston. When the couple purchased property in Anderson, Texas and built their retirement home, they made Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson their church home and she became equally involved there. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. She enjoyed her family, and was an awesome “Big Granny” to her grands and great-grands. She loved to cook and had a wonderful sense of humor and strong faith in her Lord and Savior. Devoted to church and community, she enjoyed having her fingers in several pies at once, although she strongly preferred her pie warm and covered in Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla! She was married to her husband for 71 years until his death in 2018. When asked the secret to such a long and happy marriage, Lida Mae would tell others that keeping the Lord in the center of their marriage and the threat that if he left, he’d have to take all five children with him never hurt, either! This world was a indeed a brighter place with her laughter!
