Mrs. LaVerne (Alewine) Horton, 56, of Plantersville passed away Sunday, July 25 at her residence. Funeral services are set for 10am Thursday, July 29 at Nobles Funeral Chapel with Rev. Clyde Larrabee officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith-Floyd Cemetery.
LaVerne was born in Houston on October 6, 1953 to Pittman and Alice (Goldsmith) Alewine. She married William C. Horton in Anderson on February 6, 1987.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Louise Alewine; step-son, Rodney Horton; and granddaughter, Kourtney Horton.
Survivors include her husband; daughter, Amber LeeAnna Alewine of Houston; sons, Jason Pittman Alewine & wife Carrie of Lexington, Jacob Nathaniel Cook of Gallatin, MO, William Joshua Cook & wife Robin of Santa Fe, and William C. Horton & wife Silka of Copperas Cove; sisters & brother-in-law, Linda & Hans Jaeger of Conroe, and Laura Alewine of Houston; brother, Johnny Alewine of Normangee; and 4 grandchiildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Chuck Hodge of Copperas Cove; Douglas Jaeger of Conroe; Justin & J.W. Alewine of North Zulch; and John Bradshaw and Lewis Brown, both of Lexington.
