Mr. Kenneth Shelby Gilbert, 89, of Navasota passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at the Sheridan of Navasota. Graveside services will be held Monday April 18th at the Bedias Baptist Cemetery with the Rev. Max Brand officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Kenneth was born January 21, 1922, to William Harrison & Rose Elizabeth (Howard) Gilbert in Huntington, AR. After graduating high school he married Evelyn Peteete on June 10, 1943 in Pensacola, FL where he was serving with the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn and infant son James Larry Gilbert.
Mr. Gilbert is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Marilyn & Robert Sullivan of Navasota; sons & daughters-in-law, Steven & Sandra Vacante Gilbert, Sr. of Navasota and Kenneth Eugene & Cheryl Gilbert of Humble; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, James L. & Clarice Peteete of Hayes, KS; 7 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren.
