Katie was born in Stoneham, Texas on April 13, 1934 to Frank and Helen (Tomkivits) Ubnoski. She married Theodore Smith on January 24, 1950 and together they had five children. She was very active at St. Marys Catholic church and enjoyed going on church sponsored trips such as Branson, painted church tours and casinos. It was through church and those trips that she made some very dear friends who made the outings that much more enjoyable. Katie loved socializing and was thrilled when people would stop by for a visit, or when her daughter Virginia would escort her to the grandchildrens school functions or events. She loved country music, dancing and her family. As loving as she was, she was also brutally honest - if you were seeking honest-to-goodness advice or an opinion, she was the go-to person!
Mrs. Smith is survived by sons and daughter-in-law Thomas Smith and Wayne and Ginger Smith; daughters and sons-in-law Virginia and D. R. Stutts and Doris and Curtis West; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous friends who will all cherish her memory.
Serving as pallbearers are Robert Stutts, Billy Stutts, Travis Cobb, Will Keyser, Scott Smith and Chuck Collins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Theodore Smith; siblings Charles Ubnoski, Theresa Zarsky, Viola Warzon, Albert Ubnoski, Louise Kimich, Harold Ubnoski and son Edward "Bubba" Smith.
