Mrs. McGinty was born in Houston, Texas on July 27, 1932 to Jesse James and Mary Kathryn (Nichols) Hickson. She graduated from Cypress High School, and married John C. (Papa John) McGinty, from Navasota on February 25, 1950. In 1968, they moved to Grimes County and settled in Old Washington, Texas where they raised a son and two daughters.
Kathryn was a member of the Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir, but “Mama John” will be remembered best for the size of her heart. She was very much a people person and loved to laugh and dance, even up until the very end of her life. She was an inspiration to everyone she met. Her greatest joy was cooking in the kitchen for all of her family. She was constantly “doing” for everyone and giving of herself, loving every minute of it. She devoted her entire life to her husband, children and grandchildren, making sure everyone felt the abundant love in her heart. She was a great lady and will be missed dearly by every life her beautiful soul touched.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Jan Rolliard and Orlando Lerma and Beverly and Paul Failla, all of Navasota; son Andy McGinty of Navasota; brother-in-law Edward Schovajska of Houston; grandchildren Shannon and Juan Castillo of Navasota, Clay Failla of Navasota, Drew McGinty of Navasota, Jessie and Brannon Court of Bryan; great-grandchildren Ashlyee and Chris Richardson, John Kolby Roliard, Juan M. Castillo, Marina Castillo, Jake Pearce, Summer Pearce, and Kenzie Macy, all of Navasota; Ruby June Court, Collins Court, Walker Court, and Rocco Court, all of Bryan; and a great, great-granddaughter Reese Elena, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John C. (PaPa John) McGinty,; sisters Betty Hood and LaWanda Schovajska.
Serving as pallbearers are Juan Castillo, John Kolby Roliard, Juan M. Castillo, Clay Failla, Drew McGinty, and Brannon Court. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Failla and J. W. Schovajska.
She is so very much loved, will be missed dearly, but never forgotten.
