Mrs. June L. (Uekert) Winkelmann, 80, of Navasota passed away Wednesday, April 3rd at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in College Station. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Thursday, April 4th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of her life will be at 10:00 am, Friday, April 5th, also at the funeral chapel with interment following in Oakland Cemetery. Rev. Matthias Dinger will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Winkelmann was born on November 5, 1938 in Bellville, Texas to Ben and Norma Ueckert. She graduated from Bellville High School and attended Univerity of Texas in Austin, where she obtained her degree in nursing. June married Odell Winkelmann in Bellville on July 20, 1958 and the couple settled in the Navasota area. She was an outgoing, nurturing and caring woman and loved working in the yard and with plants. Mrs. Winkelmann worked as a nurse in Navasota, Houston and later for the prison system where she retired. She is survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in law Erline and Ernest Wellmann and Leroy and Delores Winkelmann.
Serving as pallbearers are Carl Dahmann, Wade Wellmann, Donald Winkelmann, Robert Winkelmann, Hilario Garcia, Jr., and Jaime Garcia.
Mrs. Winkelmann was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Winkelmann.
