Judy McCracken Priem was born in San Antonio, TX, on March 11, 1941, to Maurice McCracken and Bennie Lynn McCracken. She was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 2, 2024. Judy grew up in Austin, TX, playing with her cousins Maurice and Michael Weed, and spending her summers in Corpus Christy with her cousins Diana Jones (Brooks) and Betty Jane Robbins (Bendall). She graduated from McCallum High School in Austin, and graduated from Abilene Christian University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree and was elected to Kappa Delta Pi. She married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Priem, in August of 1963; their union lasted 60 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Joe William McCracken. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Priem, daughters Kathleen Priem, Amy Jarvis and husband Ross; two grandchildren, Ashton and Ella Jarvis.
They made their home in Austin, where they raised their two daughters and attended Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ. Judy and Ken loved to travel, their favorite place was Hawaii, where they could be found on a catamaran watching sea turtles and whales, or on a glider flying over the mountains. Their love for each other was evident as they traveled the world, but home was always in Austin.
She was a loving wife and mother, encouraging her husband and daughters in every undertaking. Her grandchildren were her joy and light of her life. She loved taking them to feed ducks, climbing trees in the park, and reading to them while snuggled in her bed. Judy touched many people's lives through her twenty-year leadership position in Bible Study Fellowship International. She will be remembered by family and friends for her strong faith, her willingness to lend a helping hand, and always being available for prayer requests at a moment's notice. Nothing was more precious to her than her family and making sure they had a firm foundation to grow in their faith. Judy wanted everyone to know, "Time flies by much too fast, so enjoy each day and fill it with happiness and laughter."
A graveside service will take place in Elgin, TX, on May 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Elgin Cemetery, 901 West 2nd Street. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donations be made in memory of Judy to Brentwood Christian School, in Austin, TX.
