Nona Cory Wagner, 82, of Millican passed away Monday, October 20, 2008, at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 24 at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Wheat Cemetery in Millican. Visitation will be held Thursday with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Nobles Funeral Chapel.
Nona was born Sunday, July 11, 1926 to George Byrd and Florine (Groda) Cory in Cawthon, TX. She married William Grant Wagner, Sr. on January 7, 1946 in Seward, PN. Nona started as a volunteer and later substitute taught at the Navasota Primary School for 19 years. She was also recognized as Citizen of the year in 1999, and was a member of the Navasota School System PTO.
Mrs. Wagner is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Billy Wagner of Jasper, Gary Wagner & Sandra Shears of Millican, Rickey & Emily Wagner of Snook, and Patrick Wagner of Palestine; sister & brother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth & Douglas Chenault of Burton; brother & sister-in-law, Allen & Wynona Wagner of Houston; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
