John Joseph Stansbury, Jr., 32 of Iola passed away Wednesday, October 5th. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 12:00pm – 2:00pm, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Nobles Funeral Chapel with a celebration of his life to follow at 2:00pm. Rev. Michael Meissner will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.
John was born in Houston on March 14, 1985 to Nina Estell Lieder and John Joseph Stansbury, Sr. His father mentored him in the carpentry trade from an early age, skills that served him well as an adult. John loved the outdoors, whether it be four wheeling through the woods with friends, hog and deer hunting or spending time on the lake jet skiing or fishing, if the weather permitted he could be found outside enjoying it. He had a knack for working on motors, and loved tinkering with cars. He had a huge heart, was wonderful with kids and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. He always looked forward to attending church with his friends at Zion Baptist Church in Iola.
John is survived by his parents, mother and step-father Nina and Darrell “Skip” Rice; father John Joseph Stansbury, Sr., and wife Sera; sisters and brothers-in-law Stephanie and Justin Vickers and Stacie and Canyon Baxley; grandmother Violet Lieder; and nieces and nephews Jason Vickers, Arella Vickers, Emiley Baxley and Seth Baxley.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Lester and Mazie Crews and Victor Lieder.
