John Moon, 58, of Navasota passed away Sunday, February 28 at the Grimes St. Joseph Health Center. The family will receive visitors beginning at 8am Thursday, March 3 at Nobles Funeral Chapel, and funeral services will begin at 2pm, also at the chapel with the Rev. Max Brand officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
John was born on August 18, 1952 in Navasota to Thomas & Clara (Otto) Moon. He married Jane Yaklin in Vattman, TX on October 30, 1976. He was a graduate of Texas A&M with a degree in Landscape Architecture in 1974, and was an avid Aggie throughout his life. He embraced the traditions that A&M taught their students capturing the attention of family & friends with his stories of Texas history, Buffalo Bill and the larger than life childhood spent living in South America with his family. Once his stories began though, he was never the one to end the conversation. John's greatest love was fishing, especially at Baffin Bay with his 2 sons. Bonding began at an early age while looking for "the big one" that always got away. He was passionate about grilling and loved to experiment with new recipes. John will be missed by all, but especially his loving wife of 34 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Jane of Navasota; sons, Parker Moon of College Station, and Hudson Moon of Navasota; sister & brother-in-law, Janice & Tom Bellace of Tomball; and brother & sister-in-law, Tom & Jamie Moon of Klein.
